“The client had owned the building for a number of years and we had spoken of several rehabilitation scenarios. He called one day to say that they wished to renovate the building. It was to become the new location of the family florist. The building was gutted with structural repairs made to walls, floors, and roofs. The exterior/interior masonry walls were re-pointed, a new insulated roof installed, new HVAC, new plumbing, new electrical, and restrooms added. One of the interesting job details were the windows. We removed the glass and left the steel frames of the original windows for historical significance. 3/4″ insulated glass panels were installed on the inside of the frame for the thermal barrier. Custom wood and metal awnings were added on the south-facing windows. A new entry deck, and ADA ramp was designed and constructed for the formal entry.”
